Signs you need a new water heater.

  • Hot Water Runs Out Fast

If you find yourself not getting as much hot water for each use, it could be a sign that your water heater is needing replacement.

  • Rusty Colored Water

When you turn the hot water on and the clear water turns to a rusty color, that is not a good sign. This is most likely from sediment and corrosion inside your tank.

  • Water Heater Over a Decade Old

Do you know how old your water heater is? Depending on your water quality, a water heater in NH can last as little as 6 years or as long as 10 years. Anything older than that… you’re on borrowed time!

  • Leaks & Puddles

Any water leaks, drips, or puddles around your water heater is not a good sign. Slight cracks can develop over time in the tank and as the water heater expands and contracts these cracks will get larger leading to a burst.

Common NH Hot Water Heater Questions

  • Determining when to replace your hot water heater is a near impossible task. We always say once your tank reaches 10 years old, any remaining use from it is a great risk.

Making sure your tank is installed correctly is a big contributor to a long lifespan. Poor water quality in communities such as Merrimack does not help either!

How often you use your water heater can also shorten or extend its lifespan.

  • Tank versus tankless. A new aged yet very important question to consider when replacing your hot water heater.

Depending on your home, family, and lifestyle can greatly dictate which type of water heater is the best for you. Our team of Service Specialists are more than happy to walk you through each system’s pros and cons to help you make an educated choice.
