We have always believed that being part of a community means showing up for it. So we are proud to share that Zak Downing, owner of GSMS, was recently voted in as a board member of the Barrington Chamber of Commerce.
GSMS has been a Chamber member for a while now, but stepping into a board role is a new chapter. It means a bigger seat at the table when it comes to supporting local businesses and helping the community grow.
A ribbon cutting for Mary's Dogs
One of the first things Zak got to be part of as a board member was a ribbon cutting for Mary's Dogs, a nonprofit that just opened its doors in Barrington.
Mary's Dogs does wonderful work. They partner with organizations to bring shelter dogs up from the south and find them loving homes here in New Hampshire. The group had been operating in Northwood, but after a difficult situation with their previous space, they made the move to Barrington, which we could not be happier about.
The event was a big one. There was a fantastic turnout, plenty of adorable dogs and puppies, and the Governor's office even stopped by to present a proclamation. For Zak, it was also a chance to connect with fellow board members and the many local businesses that helped Mary's Dogs get their new home up and running.
Why this matters to us
Relationships are everything to us, both in the field and in the community. Getting to know the people and businesses around us, and lending a hand where we can, is a big part of who GSMS is. Welcoming Mary's Dogs to Barrington and taking on a bigger role with the Chamber are two more ways we get to do that. It is the same spirit behind our We Love Local community giving series.
Congratulations to Mary's Dogs on the new space, and here's to many happy adoptions ahead.
